Text

The King David High School Behaviour and rewards policy acknowledges and rewards achievements and contributions of pupils in all aspects of school life and is intended to motivate pupils to achieve their best.

The King David High School acknowledges that pupils will not always behave perfectly, and the consequence system is designed to give pupils choices to reflect on their behaviour. Its principal role is to allow pupils to learn in a calm, orderly and safe environment, where all pupils can thrive and make outstanding progress.

All teachers will use strategies that supports learning and builds strong relationships.

Managing Behaviour

At King David we use classroom climates to help manage behaviour. The climates are used to help students to understand what is expected from them.

“Hands up, Listen up!”

When a staff member raises their hand, all pupils are expected to be silent and ready to listen.

In Class Consequences

Consequences will be given for negative behaviour. When a C1 is issued, pupils will have a Choice to change their behaviour before a sanction is given.

C2 will be issued if the negative behaviour continues. The pupil will than have a Chance to correct their behaviour before a more serious sanction is given.

C3 will be issued if the pupil continues to disrupt the learning of others and Consequences (30 Minute detention) will be given.

C4 will result in Removal of pupil. The pupil will be directed to the reflection room. Here they will be expected to complete a reflection task and will be given a 1 hour afterschool detention.

C2 Accumulation

C2’s that are issued over a week period for low level behaviour incidents are accumulated into a sanction which will take place the following week. These are issued by the Heads of Years.

Achievement points

Positive behaviour will be rewarded with achievement points. These are scaled A1-A5. A5 being the top award that can only be issued by SLT or HOY’s.

We believe that all pupils meeting out expectations should receive achievement points at the end of every lesson. If pupils meet your expectations, a minimum of A1 will be awarded to each pupil.

Rewards and Praise

At King David we believe that every child should be rewarded for the positive choices that they make. Pupils will be praised and rewarded based on their achievement points total.
