Learning for Life (Years 7–11)

At The King David High School, our Learning for Life programme supports students in developing the knowledge, skills and values they need to thrive both in school and beyond.

Learning for Life brings together key areas of personal development, wellbeing, citizenship and relationships education, ensuring that students are well prepared for the opportunities and challenges of modern life. Through a carefully planned curriculum delivered across Years 7–11, students develop confidence, resilience and a strong sense of responsibility towards themselves and others.

The programme reflects our school ethos and values, encouraging students to become thoughtful, respectful and responsible members of society. Lessons provide a safe and supportive environment where students can explore important topics, ask questions and develop their understanding of the world around them.

Across the five years, Learning for Life covers a wide range of themes including:

  • Health and wellbeing – mental health, emotional resilience, healthy lifestyles and personal safety

  • Relationships and respect – friendships, family relationships, consent, and respectful communication

  • Living in the wider world – citizenship, diversity, equality and understanding different perspectives

  • Financial education and careers – developing independence, managing money and preparing for future pathways

  • Personal responsibility and decision-making – building confidence, resilience and positive choices

The curriculum is designed to be age-appropriate and progressive, allowing students to revisit key themes while developing deeper understanding as they move through the school.

Learning for Life plays an important role in supporting students’ personal development, helping them to grow into confident, compassionate and informed young people who are prepared for the next stage of their education and for life in modern society.
